TeraGrip Stripping Inhibitors
TeraGrip is a stripping inhibitor additive, also known as DOP. It promotes a stronger bond between bitumen and aggregate.
The use of TeraGrip extends the lifespan of asphalt roads with a very small additional cost relative to the total asphalt material cost.
Experiments conducted with various aggregates, such as limestone, basalt, granite, and river gravel, show that TeraGrip increases stripping resistance and adhesion strength while reducing the water sensitivity of the asphalt mixture, thus increasing the indirect tensile strength (ITS).
- The primary causes of surface degradation, such as peeling, cracking, potholes, and fractures, are the stripping of bitumen from the aggregate surface, along with insufficient stripping resistance and adhesion. The physical, chemical, and mineral structure of the aggregate in asphalt concrete, as well as the chemical properties of the bitumen, affect the adhesion strength between the aggregate and the bitumen.
- TeraGrip enhances the adhesion of bitumen to the aggregate by reducing the surface tension of the bitumen, preventing stripping and extending the lifespan of the asphalt surface.
- It increases the indirect tensile strength by enhancing the adhesion between the bitumen and the aggregate.
- TeraGrip delivers excellent results when used with aggregates that have a high silica content, such as limestone, basalt, and granite.
- TeraGrip is insoluble in water.
